The ADAC GT4 Germany started the 2024 season at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. ME Motorsport brought two BMW M4 GT4s to the start. Markus Eichele and Philip Wiskirchen shared a racing car, while Andreas Jochimsen and Thomas Rackl started in the sister car. After productive days of testing in the week before the race weekend, the racing team from Schwäbisch Gmünd traveled to the Magdeburger Börde in a positive mood.
In Saturday's race, Jochimsen and Motorsport Team Germany funding pilot Rackl finished ninth. In a hard-fought race, the car was permanently in front midfield, but had to complete a penalty lap after the mandatory pit stop because the maximum speed allowed in the pit lane was slightly exceeded. The sister car was eliminated in the second half of the race after an impact by Philip Wiskirchen, after Eichele was also on his way to a strong finish before the driver change.
On Sunday, team owners Markus Eichele and Philip Wiskirchen were able to make amends and finished the hard-fought race, which had to be temporarily interrupted after a serious accident involving a competitor in a Mercedes, on the podium. In the trophy classification, the duo finished in a strong second position. In the overall standings, the two drivers were in seventh place. Jochimsen and Rackl finished twelfth and were also able to score a few points there.
“I'm happy with the weekend in Oschersleben. Our two cars showed good speed and we were able to fight for good positions in the overall, junior and trophy standings! “, says team owner Markus Eichele satisfied after the race weekend at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. “The ADAC GT4 Germany has a top-class cast again this year and for us as a young team, it is a fantastic achievement to be in the front of the field. We hope, of course, that we can continue this on the following race weekends. ”
The second race weekend of the ADAC GT4 Germany will take place from May 24 to 26. At the DEKRA Lausitzring, the GT4 cars will once again be part of the DTM supporting program.
