Lausitzring GT4 Germany review

The second race weekend of the ADAC GT4 Germany is behind ME Motorsport. At the DEKRA Lausitzring, the top-class ADAC GT4 championship once again made a guest appearance as part of the DTM supporting program. The team from Schwäbisch Gmünd once again used two BMW M4 GT4s, which were driven by Markus Eichele and Philip Wiskirchen as well as Andreas Jochimsen and Thomas Rackl.

In Saturday's race, Eichele and Wiskirchen fought their way up from 16th place on the grid. With a strong performance, Wiskirchen saw the checkered flag in eighth position after one hour of racing. This was razor-thin enough for Markus Eichele to win the trophy classification — the team owner won the subrating in the ADAC GT4 Germany for the first time. Andreas Jochimsen and Motorsport Team Germany sponsorship pilot Thomas Rackl also showed a strong performance in the team's second BMW and fought their way up to tenth position. In the junior standings, Wiskirchen and Rackl also finished strong with positions five and six!

The starting position ahead of the second ADAC GT4 Germany race in Lusatia was tricky. During the starting grid, heavy rain set in on the circuit, but it stopped as quickly as it began. The track dried out quickly, so the teams had to plan the tire change on slicks. Philip Wiskirchen was the first driver in the entire field to switch back to the treadless tires from Pirelli. In the end, Eichele was ranked second in the trophy classification and his partner Wiskirchen also scored further important points in the junior standings.

Andreas Jochimsen and youngster Thomas Rackl once again showed a strong performance in their BMW. From 16th on the grid, the driver duo advanced to ninth position in a hard-fought race, allowing them to score important points for the championship once again.

“I am very happy that I was able to win the trophy classification on Saturday. This was our goal before the season and we achieved it on the second race weekend — so we're happy to continue the season! “, says team owner Markus Eichele with joy. “Philip and Thomas also scored important points in the junior standings this weekend. But I would also like to say a big thank you to my team and my three pilots, who once again did a great job this weekend. I'm really looking forward to the next events in the ADAC GT4 Germany and hope that we can continue to improve! ”

Jochimsen and Rackl are tenth in the overall ADAC GT4 Germany standings after two race weekends. Wiskirchen and Eichele follow three positions behind. ME Motorsport is in eighth position in the team standings.
The drivers of the BMW racing team also have a strong position in the subratings. Eichele is currently in third place in the trophy classification, his partner Philip Wiskirchen is in fifth place in the junior classification. Thomas Rackl is currently in seventh position in the junior standings.

It continues with the ADAC GT4 Germany on the first weekend in July. For the first time, the racing series is making a guest appearance at the legendary Norisring in Nuremberg. The guest appearance in the Franconian metropolis will be the highlight of this year's season of the close-series GT racing series.
